Long week

Well. We got home from the 40 and I felt like putting the bike away for the year. The leg was in pain the whole day Sunday. I sat at work all day Monday, when I had to walk it hurt. It seemed doing the 40 with a torn muscle was a bad idea. I didn't ride the bike all week up until the Saturday pre ride. To my surprise the leg was feeling awesome. We did 2 laps and the leg was feeling like it has not in months. So we rode and went back to camp at Wood Co south park. Nice hot showers and clean bathrooms. What a deal for 7 bucks a night. Felt sorry for the riders that paid $10 for onsite camping. So I went to bed feeling pretty good about the leg. Woke up Sunday at 6:00 am and man it was cold. Put the key in the truck and looked at the temp, wow 39 degrees but the sun was coming up and not a cloud in the sky. We ate breakfast packed up the pop up and headed to the race. Shelly's race was first at 10:00. She had not rode in awhile and was not about how she would do. First lap she came through pretty far up in the field. I was glad to see that and hoped she could hold her place. She lost a few places but rode her ass of to get first in her age group. Her first win of the year. Great Job Sweety. So my race is approaching. I get on of the kids to watch the rugrats so I can warm up. The leg was feeling like brand new again. This will be a good race and it was. I took the started and lead it until I hit a small log and launched it into the log into the trail and four guys got around. I grab the last wheel and we fought hard to break away. Four miles in we had about a 30 second lead on the next group. I know this because I hit a small tree that was cut off and launched over the bars hard. I got up slow, then jumped on to find my chain fell of as I went to pedal and fell over again. That is when I see I lost my waterbottle, picked that up. Jumped up, got the chain on and started to pedal before the next group caught me. I let Ben around and jump on his tire so I could clear the cob webs, That took a whole lap to happen. On the last lap Diana told us we had gained and were only 15 seconds down on the next group. Ben pulled throughout the field hard and into the road. We hit the double track to the dam and I gased it as hard as I could, we past the next group at 27 mph as I slammed on the brakes and slid into the singletrack. I know right away I blew my wad on the road and that I didn't have enough to lead. I let Chad by so I could recoup a little. I looked back and there were 7 of us tire tire. I was leading in my age group and 2, 3 and 4th were right behind me. Three miles later we came out on the road with one big climb to the finish. I gased it hard and passed Chad and another guy, the cramps were there, Ben launched around and so did my competition. I finished 2nd 1 second down. & of us came across the line in single file. It was the best finish sscenerio I have ever had.

Last couple of day

Well the last couple of day I have added on a lot of miles now that the leg is working right again. Big road miles on Wednesday and Thursday, 36 at Muir on Friday and 30 at Muir this morning. Just training for the 40. I posted about the Friday ride at the wors site, but it is worth repeating. So here ya go.

I was riding the connector with a few other guys and gals, It was a busy Friday at the south kettles. We were on our way to Emma approaching the first horsey gate and there was a very strong smell of coconut or tropical fruit, kind of odd. We stopped at the bench at Emma for a bit and headed back. All is well on the way back, then the smell was there again near horse riders parking lot. This time however it was stronger. Then I rode up on a women wearing a bath robe and Indian style lace up boot. See was a sight. She must have bathed in the smelly oil. The guy in front said she was naked as he first seen her with the robe around her arm. Her comment to him it was a perfect night of a moon light walk now the bugs are gone so you can were anything. The guy made some comment in the parking lot about the Reagan administration and shaving, glad I was about ten riders back. Oh and the connect trail is getting sweeter with every ride.

So more road riding, more muir and some bmx for this week.
