What a weekend, Friday was date night for mom and dad now that we found a new sitter. We went out to the Cotton Picker in Burlington on hwy 36. Still the same décor they had 15 years ago but the food is still awesome. Stopped for drinks on the way home and left buzzed up 2 hours later. Then we went home and fell asleep watching Juno on the couch. Then I got woken up by Josh the next morning to go do more trail work at Muir. I am really proud that josh enjoys volunteering to build trails. By the way the trail system at Muir will be top notch in the state soon. After Saturday 80% of the mats are now out of the system.

You all need to pick a Saturday this spring and come out and give 4 hours before a ride to make a huge difference in the trails we ride all summer and fall long.

Now it time for the bad news from this weekend. I went out Sunday and found the leg is still screwed up after Rock Hut. I rolled out for a real slow warm up. After about 5 miles I picked up the pace and a small incline and the leg cramped right up. What ever is torn inside is still kicking back under any stress. I thing a slow ride all weeks may help a little. I will be at Iola so hopefully it gets better soon. It’s still very bruised but not sore to the touch anymore.

busted

So I busted out the new cyclopath kits all the way down to the socks. I was told you can really see the argyle through the woods of Rock Hut state park.
Well I left all kinds of stuff out on the trail at Rock Hut yesterday. I started the day off all wrong just ¼ mile in to the trail. There was a right turn off the road into the dirt on a small hill. I pulled a rookie move and backed off from making a pass and locked up the front brake on some tree bark. Well I was picking myself up off the ground and realized I just buried the brake and shifter into my upper thigh. Jumped back on and Coop made some comment about riding the bike. The quickly found the brake lever and shifter was pushed up a tad and I was not getting it back down and now the leg was throbbing. I finished up the first lap and the leg was tender to the touch. In the middle of the 2nd lap the leg was done and started cramping even when walking. So when the darkness and Jesse went by like I was standing still I know I was way back. Ronsta was rocking it in third then there was a huge gap back to forth. Well after that heartbreak I am going to hit few sport races early this year.

josh was rollin his 64

That is right we add a 26 inch fork and wheel to the front of his 24 inch frame. With the 70 degree head tube there was only 3/8 of an inch added axle to axle. The tire to tire at the ground added 1 inch. We hit the local path around town and he said it was harder to ride up the hill. However he was riding the gravel electric company line with ease over the smaller tire. Plus a bit more pedal clearance. We will switch back and forth and see how it goes. Well kettles open today as well

making trail

Well Josh and I went out and helped build some new trail at the south kettles at 8:30. All I have to say is man the new White loop is going to be a must ride. It will be in the 12 hour loop for the wems event. The new section is at least three times the length and three times the climbing. The new green and orange loop will break off the middle of the white loop now, no more green hill climb. Today we helped build a huge switchback turn that has at least 20 huge boulders that created the bench. Josh and I did the initial clearing for the green/orange split. Josh ran out of gas at about 11:45 so we all the help headed to general store for lunch.

Sick kid

Stayed home today with Josh. After cleaning the hall rug a second time to get out the puke smell we started watching a few movies. First it was Bench Warmers then a quick viewing of Happy Gilmore and we are getting ready to fire up Napoleon Dynamite. It has been raining pretty heavy all day. I am just getting ready to accept the rock hut race will be switched to the rain date. I have decided to race wors sport the first two races and look at jumping back into comp after that. This winter has just been two long and my lack of miles is become all to clear.

FOR SALE UNTIL GONE

So we decided to sell a T Shirt as a fund raiser for the team this year. We are going to give some for the proceeds to the South Kettle trail crew for food and drink after trail days. The T shirts are 100% cotton quality shirts in 4 colors. They will be $10 bucks and they make a statement that is long overdue.

gone

Well it 12:50 on friday it 52 degrees out. I am out, they can leave a message. Glad I filled up the tires last night.

Update : 2.5 hours in the saddle into wind and I don't care that my toes are numb. I did find a new way around to hwy d and alpine valley back trough east troy.

Saturday: 1.5 hours at Muskego park. That hill gets steeper every other lap. It is amazing all the dog walkers there and half without leashes. Its a leash law I thought not a leash option.

this is plain wrong

Well it looks like the south kettles will be closed till after the 1st wors race with the amount of standing water still present out there everywhere. Plus I was reading today that the stress of a new job can cause weight gain due to the stress. Great that is just what I need a few more pounds to go with the new job. Now I just need to figure out if I should race sport or comp in a month.
