Saturday ride

Well I think the plan was for 60 miles yesterday to Lake Geneva and back. Well the rider leader thought LG would be to busy so we headed to holy hill. After holy hill we going to go do a small loop and head back. Well after a few turns and long country road we added a few more than 10 miles. After it was all said and done we had over 100 miles on a nice hot humid day. The kicker was we ran hillside road from Jackson to Sussex, it was painful after we already had 70 miles on by that time. We also put the pool up Saturday, so after a short recovery ride today that is where you might find us. Kenny

Race 2 a dnf and race 3 was O'tay

Well we made that trip all the way up to Cable, 355 miles and 6 hours to race in the most horrible conditions ever. Well how is pouring rain and a temp with wind chills at 26 degrees. Yep I was thinking this will by awesome, if I can keep the rubber side down. Well about 6 miles into the race a buddy John was right in front of me, he started to slide and I went to my left to get around him. It looked like a clear line. I was a wrong, a small tree hit me square in the knee cap and stopped me. I jumped off ran a few feet and jumped back on. About 4 miles later the knee was going no further race was over. So I spent six hours in the car on the ride home that night with a very swelled up knee and a limp. Fast forward one week, no riding what so ever for the whole week attempting to rest the knee. I went and did the pre ride saturday and the knee kicked back on any hard climb, so I was thinking sunday was going to hurt. I woke up sunday and mentally I was set to fight for a top ten in my age group nothing more, even less would have been fine. So now it 11:00 and I am getting ready for the start still ok with a so so finish as long as I finish. Now it is 11:30 the first age group is in the start shoot and I panic. I can see there are a ton of day of race numbers in the crowd of riders. Now my brain is working hard spiking my heart rate, not good. I completely changed my plan. Now I was going to attack from the start and hope to out climb the slower day of pack three minutes in front of us. Well it worked I went into the woods in second place in my age. I held that spot until the third and last lap. I hit a root bad and bounced into some trees. One rider got around and away. For the next mile the guy who ended up third and myself changed place 5 or 6 times. It was a great race 4 th in my age and 15 overall. I wish I could say taking the week off help me but it was a fluke, but I will take it

1st Race OK, 2nd, well

Well last Sunday was the first WORS race for the new Cyclopath Team. All went well, a couple podium spots and some other good finishes. I ended up 6 in my age group and 35 overall. Not as good as I was hoping. The dust took its toll on my lungs the 2nd lap and I just hung on to finish. We are leaving this morning for the Cable Off Road classic in cable. Just a 6 hour ride. The problem however is they have had inches of rain in the past week and the temps are in the high 30's. Just a blast of winter in May in Northern Wisconsin. Kenny

Well just 1 day to go before I hop on the plane and head back north. One more bike ride just to say I did. Rained all day yesterday and this morning . Yes I did ride in the rain for an hour. Now it is clear and sunny and getting warmer fast. Just can't wait to get back to the 50 and 60 for a real spring. This two weeks of summer is a shock to the system. See ya soon family Kenny

Hump day

Well the miles keep adding up and the home sickness is getting worse. Just can't sleep thinking about Shelly and the kids. The odom on the bike rolled to 340 but that might be it for the trip. They are calling for rain from this afternoon till friday after I leave. I may just ride in the rain to get 400 miles in. I need to hit another mall or two to try to find a nice gift to take home for everyone. There is a ton of garbage tshirts and texas flags and other trinkets. Well time for learning, I think that is why I am down here. Kenny

Ready to leave

Well it has been 7 days and I am ready to go home in a bad way everytime I talk to the kids on the phone. It has been nice taking to Shelly in NY and to hear in her voice how much fun she is having. Well, I can tell you I rode a few miles on the bike this week. After the last ride I had 251.7 miles on the bike that includes 103 miles on Saturday. It is suppose to be ungodly hot this week. I watched the 7 day forecast this morning it was mon - friday high of 92 and chance for thunderstorms everynight, what fun. There will be a little less riding this week with the heat and rain. I am counting the hours until the plane takes off. Kenny
