weakend

Well did you ever wonder if tubeless tires have a shorter life span if you run them with less air. I have been running kenda karma for 3 years without ever having a issue at 45 - 50 pounds. That was until this year. This year in comp the singletrack riding is much faster than sport so I have been running about 32 - 35 psi. I am thinking with less pressure the sidewall is moving more and becomes weaker faster. Yesterday I hit a stump and it looks like a pissed raccoon was biting on the tire. I slammed on a CO2 heard the leak spun the tire and watched a Stan's silly string show. The tire was not holding any air. So that made for a nice long walk out of the woods and my first DNF in a long time. It sucked. The walk out was an eye opener. Listening and seeing comp riders swearing at and belittling other sport and citizen racers. If you feel that yelling and swearing at someone to get around a second faster makes you a great racers think again.

The the guy who chewed into my wife to go faster and then ran into her knocking her down. I know who you are so next race make sure you are not in my way as the clyde train is coming through the singletrack you will be picking yourself up off the ground I promise.

She was having a good race until she crashed. Then on the second lap she got ran off the trail buy a asshole who could not wait for 30 feet before the crushed lime road section. Then she stopped and help a gen x rider who was bonked big time. It another scary story she said 30 or 40 riders past and never asked if anything was ok, one guy pass someone and ran into her bike and asked if she was ok but not the poor guy laying on the ground yet. So prop to Matt on our team stopped they got the guy some gu's and water and he finished the race.

Well three weeks till franklin, time for a non bike vacation and new tires.

re - capped

What a weekend, managed 38 miles Saturday morning. Then we had some good Friends over for swimming with drinks and food that night all was good. Not that I would ever use this knowledge but I found out you can cook a Boca burger in the toaster.

I was forced to Walmart on the saturday morning for some things. That place is a retard magnet. Ya go ahead I was there. As you walk in both doors are clearly stickered on the door and above with large exit and enter signs. So this women is in a full walking sprint into the exit door. Well she met up the the other soccer mom late for something in a bad way. Lets just say the shopping cart one, the leg of the non reading mom was tore up and bleeding after being forced under a full cart and her short were stuck in the wheel making it even more out of control.

Then I made my way into the outdoor area to get tent spray and seam sealer, main reason for going. Next to me is some tard in spraying bug spray to see if it smells. Then he grabs a bottle of repellent and blast his baby's momma and baby right in the eye with some deet. They are both screaming like their mom on springer.

Then the topper of cake topper.

This guy with 4 teeth ask the sporting goods counter help if you can buy a fishing license just for certain lakes. "Cause he ain't going fishing all over the state just around here" Unfortunately the clerk tells him he is not sure he would have to check the book. So then 4 tooth tells his buddy see that wasn't a stupid question. Oh yes it was.

So by end of day Sunday I did church, lunch with the in laws and the old tent was pulled from the garage attic cleaned and resealed for camping at the next wors race.

weekend bike damage almost

Well you have to give credit where credit is due. First to Stan's, the front tire on Sunday got stabbed just right by a stick and almost wrecked the day. Well after taking the tire off to find a cup of sand a piece of wood and a tear at least 3/8 long all plugged with sticky slop. So the Stan worked and closed up a huge hole, good stuff. The Bontrager. that front rim took some good dig into the dirt and is still straight as the day it was new. Then Kenda, for a tire that stayed on the rim with almost no air and was holding a cup of sand inside and still beaded back up.

air air air and electronic problems

The weekend was plague with mechanical issues.

Friday- All the air leaked out of the car tire at camp

Saturday- All the air leaked out of Shelly's cane creek shock

Sunday. Load up the truck and started it to a battery not charging warning. Goes away at 20 miles per hour. Lost a diode in the alternator. Then beginning of the 2nd lap in the singletrack I ran something over and hit the deck. What the hell happened the tire is flat, pulled out the stick from the tire and hammered on a co2 and the stans did seal the big cut but had only like 20 pounds in the front for 2 laps. That really make fast single track a challenge. This course was really sweet, they do need to cut a few saplings to make more places to pass in the singletrack.

****Just in case you watched our comp start I did not hammer that hard out of the gate to get a big lead like a knob shine. There was a few folks up front slip a pedal and some bars were getting banged in the ditch and I just got away clean. I sat up on the stone road and jumped back on.

Sunday on the way home - We had a tire come apart on the camper and rolled into a rest stop and changed it. We lost about a 1/2's hours time. Then about 40 more miles at the Camp Douglas exit I hit something on the highway and blew another tire on the camper. So I am sitting at bp at 7:00pm on a sunday looking for a tire. Big thanks to Brad Byrge for giving me a lift 40 miles to wally world to buy a spare. It was the right size, but it was the right bolt pattern. So we rolled in the driveway about 11:45 pm.
