aint no huntin yet
So I left work and hit the kettles at 2:00. Then coming back from the connector I ride into three nice sheriffs with shotguns in $100 hill area . It seems the missing lake geneva man is still missing. They nicely made it clear that I needed to understand the trails are closed for the rest of the day. Three 12 gauges say it better than anything I know. So I hi tail it back to the parking lot. The have it closed and a helicopter is in the grass and dozens of law enforcement personnel and many many dnr wardens and 4 wheelers get ready to start searching. So I given a little hurry up change your clothing. I mentioned to the sheriff this part of the job must suck. He said "yeah it hard to find someone who doesn't want to be found". What, he doesn't want to be found and you guys are armed walking the trails. I got out of there. Plus I got it over with on the way to emma. I went over the bars and scratched the new bike. Now its over, the cherry had been popped. See you at Iola II

thanks doc
Well no tubes and a tech saying just relax yet to help the stomach issue. The doc wants me to drop in and leave some blood and urine. Then keep a journal of everything I eat or drink for the next 30 days.

superbowl recap
Well lets start with the snow flurries Friday morning. It was a nice 38 degrees with 15 mph north winds. It went from rain to snow back to sleet then rain again. Did a nice pre ride on the new bike and it started to set in that this friggin 29 thing is the shit. The tires just seem to roll faster. I could give a crap less about where the tire strikes and object because its bigger that makes it better. We did a test, same gear same cadence and the 29 just rolls away. That a true life test that the 29 will win every time. The Nye Sayers that bring up it harder to climb on a 29er must own stock in 26 tire companies. The head angle with the new 51 mm offset did make feel like I was riding the fuel. I know the Iola single track will be test this week on the real handling of the 29er. Forward to Saturday, wake up at 5am and go outside and its 20 whole degrees outside. There is a frosty on the windows so thick you can see the crystal formations in it. yep that kinda frost. No one had a scraper in the lot yet, it is still September. Got to the line at 6:20 and that put us back 38 rows from the front. The line went up at 5:20 and riders were waiting already. Forward 3 hours and the cannon goes off and the sit for a while and the train begins to roll. There is a new hitch at the start with a new intersection that really slowed us down. We get to Walmart on 77 and see Karen and her legs are about to spin right of she is fight the wind herself on the SS. I slow down and pulled he all the way to Rosie's. I am sure I got passed by 1000 riders but that is what she needed. I knew this was her first 40 and did not want her to blow up on the road working all by herself. It made for a fun time to double 00. Passing back 1000 riders is sorta fun. My game pal was to turn the screws at double 00 and I did. Started passing more riders and started really attack the the hills and passing more. We hit the 2 mile road section and caught a line that we were holding 28 mph, Dan was behind me on the SS and his was spinning on the surges. I got to give him credit to spin that fast. Then the heart breaker took over I got sick again for no reason on fire tower road. Just got sick twice in two minutes and the stomach was all upset I tried to ride it off. Stopped at the next water station and had some water and asked if anyone had some Rolaids. Not even a tums so I had some banana pieces, they told me they would settle stomach. Time to go after a couple minutes rest you feel like you didn't even ride. However the next 5 miles was horrible with the cramps and pain. I started feeling ok during the birkie trails and ended up finishing strong the last couple of miles. Overall I enjoyed the race. Now I think I need to call the doc and figure out the regurgitation for no reason issue that has happen twice in a week. See all sunday at Iola, Oh and 2006 trek fuel XL for sale all xtr fox front and rear and bontrager parts.

maybe not the effort
I was thinking the puke at the top of the hill had something to do with way to much effort and not enough preparation. I don't think so. I have been running a fever all day and just ache all over. My just a touch of the flu.

worst to worster
Well the start was real good. My legs felt light and powerful. That is were the good for the day ends. That is because 2 miles in I was losing lunch or breakfast and some supper. Once it started I could not stop I was breathing so damn hard. Thanks to everyone who asked if I was OK. Sorry to everyone who rode through it as you exited the field section. I rode out the lap and stopped at the team ezup for some plain water. Got back on the bike to take my place in dead last. By the third lap I was catching and passing comp riders again when the non drive side crank fell off. I guess building up the bike the day before and not riding it was a bad idea. O well ride a bit this week and get ready for the Hayward Superbowl. I hope all the bad luck was used up today.

kettles ride
Man I have not ridden the muir trails since our event in June. The whole family got there early and did a few red laps with josh. Then we did a bypass lap and met up with other team members. Went out and did a few more reds with josh. Then they opened the blue. We went out for just a friggin mess the mud holes everywhere in the squirrel loop were deep and sloppy. The worst part was the bottom of the horse shoe climb were the loggers tore it up last year. Those puddles or should I say mud traps were a foot deep all the way through. I told the ranger to close them again and he just stared into space. The said I rode out to the first bench and it was ok. We of coarse we covered in mud so it must have been ok. Also be warned it is burr season. They are all nice and brown and ready to get snagged.
Road ride next two days. The superbowl is 14 days away.
PS the 15 year old mongoose still rides ok and it didn't break
